Getting started with Virtual DJ is quite simple and involves dragging-and-dropping your music collection into the Virtual DJ graphical user interface. From there, you're all ready to go and mix your favourite tracks for whatever occasion you're planning.
This application download includes a very handy BPM counter which allows DJs to finely tune their mixing skills and effectively determine when to fade-in and fade-out (or crossfade) musical tracks. Sound levels are easily controlled via the equalizer and setting different bass and treble levels for separate tracks is supported.
If you're not quite into doing live DJ stints at your home with this software, you can also record your mixes onto an MP3 track for later playback. Though mixing music requires a keen knowledge of how to really mix tracks, Virtual DJ gives you the perfect tools to do that.. though it's not for everybody.
Creating samples and loop tracks is supported by Virtual DJ and you can save them to a MP3 or burn them to an Audio CD. Live Internet streaming is also available with this program with support for ShoutCast, so a perfect tool if you run an online radio station.
Though some of the features contained within Virtual DJ are none-the-less complex, the program interface is great for beginnings to get their feet wet with DJing and track mixing.

Another insane design is the “Massive” skins by Entity. Back then Massive was widely considered the best wavetable synthesizer for dubstep, but with the rise of Serum it fell into oblivion. With this custom skin the Massive look comes back to life again, but with the power of Serum.

The Anthracite Skin by Aevi
This one is definitely one of my favorite ones. It’s dark and it’s simple and made from vector graphics which means that it will even look stunning paired with high resolution screens. It comes with 9 unique colors and is designed to remove all unnecessary visual distractions, which makes it ultra clean, but look for yourself:

Free Kill The Noise Skin
I have recently found the Kill The Noise skin on a website called “tealcheese”. It’s kinda purple / neon pink and you can download it for free: The creator also shows how to take advantage of the Serum colormap feature in this tutorial.

How to install Serum skins
If you don’t know how to use the Serum skins I’ve mentioned before here’s a short tutorial:
- First you have to update Serum to the latest version. Open it in your DAW and click on Menu > Show Serum Presets folder
- Click on the “Skins” folder and paste the skins you’ve downloaded before
- Now you can change the current skin by clicking on the Serum icon at the top-left. You may have to reload Serum for this.

How to make Xfer Serum skins
