Johny Mera Naam (transl. Johny is my name) is a 1970Bollywoodcrimeaction film directed by Vijay Anand. The film stars the director's brother, Dev Anand and Pran in the roles of brothers separated in childhood. Hema Malini, Jeevan, Premnath, I. S. Johar and Iftekhar also star in pivotal roles.[2]

At the 18th Filmfare Awards, Vijay Anand won the Filmfare Best Screenplay Award,[3] while actor I.S. Johar received his first Best Performance in a Comic Role for his triple roles: a steward in an aeroplane, an associate of criminals and a police officer.The film was remade in Kannada as Apoorva Sangama, in Telugu as Eduruleni Manishi and in Tamil as Raja.[4]
Synopsis[edit]
Mohan and Sohan are the sons of a police inspector. The kids excel in boxing. Their father is killed by a goon following orders from Ranjit (Premnath). Mohan (Pran) kills the goon, takes refuge in a car boot, and goes missing.
Years later, Sohan (Dev Anand) goes on to become a CID officer called Sohan Kumar who solves his cases taking up different guises. He takes the identity of Johny, a petty thief and gets himself in jail, befriends Heera (Jeevan), solves a case wooing Rekha (Hema Malini) and finds the criminal.

The movie boasts one of the best performances of Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle. Johny Mera Naam marked some of the best music composed by the duo Kalyanji Anandji and pro memoria lyrics of Indeevar.[6]

Influences[edit]
- The song 'Pal Bhar Ke Liye', composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and performed by Kishore Kumar in this film was very popular. It was used at the end of The Simpsons episode 'Kiss Kiss, Bang Bangalore' (2006).
- A scene of the film is shown in the 2007 thriller Johnny Gaddaar, prompting a character to give Johnny as a fake name and hence the film title.
- The song 'Pal Bhar Ke Liye' was picturized at the Godawari garden near Kathmandu in which the glamor girl, Hema Malini, appears in beautiful costume.
- The song 'O Mere Raja' was shot at the ruins of Nalanda and the Vishwa Shanti Stupa in Rajgir, Bihar.[7]

Jaanu is a 2012 Kannadaromantic action film directed by Preetham Gubbi and produced by Jayanna Combines. Yash and Deepa Sannidhi are the lead actors while Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Shobaraj among others play the supporting roles. V. Development[edit]
Following Haage Summane and Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam, Preetham Gubbi joined with producers Jayanna Combines, as with earlier films.
Filming[edit]
The film Jaanu is shot at Sakleshpur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Gajendragad and Bengaluru The talkie portions completed shoot also completed the dubbing at Aakash Recording Studio.
Casting[edit]
Deepa Sannidhi, a much sought after actress with two hits in the last year - Saarathi and Paramathma is in her third film with Yash. Rangayana Raghu, Shobaraj, Sangeetha, Madhu Guruswamy, Sadhu Kokila, Layendra are also in the supporting cast.
Crew Members[edit]
Krishna is behind the camera and V. Harikrishna has scored the music. Deepu S Kumar editing, Ismail art direction, Harsha, Murali and Chinni Prakash stunts are part of the technical team in Jaanu.[4]

Box office[edit]
Jaanu was a much anticipated film and got a good opening. But the film met with mixed response upon release, although it went on to be commercially successful at the box office by completing 50 days of run.[5]

V. Harikrishna composed the film's background score and music for its soundtrack. The album consists of five tracks.[6] Lyrics for the tracks were penned by Yogaraj Bhat and Jayant Kaikini. The album released on 13 May 2012.[7]
